Australia has more than 200 species of cicada. These infamously noisy insects are the loudest in the world, especially when they get together in big groups to create a cacophony that is loud enough to ward off most predators, even humans! The young version of a cicada is called a nymph, which live underground until they reach adulthood and emerge, which is what you will see (or hear rather) plenty of at Goondicum.
